You've got to see NY Islanders' prospect Cole Eiserman's assist from last night
"When the NY Islanders selected Cole Eiserman with pick No. 20 in the 2024 NHL Draft, the attribute that made him so appealing was his shot. An elite shot that was NHL-ready by the time he was 18, Eiserman can shoot the puck with the best of them and has one of the best shots in the world outside of the NHL."
"Last night, in Boston University's matchup with the University of New Hampshire, Eiserman had what might be the assist of the season in the NCAA. With a 3-1 lead in the third period, Eiserman faked a shot and slid a pass between his legs to Jack Harvey, who fired the puck into a gaping net with the goaltender still focused on Eiserman and unable to slide across his crease."
"If that's the case, the Islanders and Eiserman have a decision to make. Does he sign his professional contract and join the Islanders organization, or does he look to further develop his game in the NCAA? The Islanders could certainly use a player of his goal-scoring stature in their playoff push, but a decision will need to be made on whether or not he's ready to make that jump."
Cole Eiserman was selected 20th overall by the NY Islanders primarily for an elite, NHL-ready shot he possessed by age 18. Once projected as a top-five pick, he slid to the middle of the first round because other aspects of his game needed significant development. In his sophomore season at Boston University he is adding playmaking, exemplified by a between-the-legs assist to Jack Harvey. Through 27 games he has 13 goals and seven assists after returning from a lower-body injury. BU has struggled and may miss the NCAA Tournament, prompting a choice between turning professional or remaining in college to develop further.
