With a baby on the way, Pierre-Luc Dubois says having 'two kids in the house' would be a lot, so Ryan Leonard's moving out
"(Dubois) likes to cook, but he's trying to get me out of there, so he's trying to teach me to learn to cook. Last night he brought some food home from here for him and (his wife) Maddie, and I actually had to go to the grocery store last night and cook for myself. So that was a fun scene. (I made) ground turkey, peppers, and rice. Simple, threw some garlic on it and salt, pepper, and put it on a plate and ate it."
"It was all pre-made, and you just have to put it together. But yeah, he'll get there one day."
Ryan Leonard moved into Pierre-Luc Dubois's household after joining the team and has been receiving both hockey advice and life-skill coaching. Dubois has pushed Leonard toward greater independence, including teaching basic cooking and grocery shopping. Leonard prepared a simple meal of ground turkey, peppers and rice with garlic, salt and pepper, while Dubois noted much of the meal was pre-made. Dubois arrived in Washington after several team changes and became a respected team leader. Dubois previously benefited from living with a veteran teammate during his rookie year and offered housing to Leonard as mentorship and support.
