"We didn't win enough pucks in all three zones, especially the offensive zone,"

"I think we found a way to generate some more opportunities,"

Tyler Toffoli scored the opening goal at 14:37 of the first period on assists from William Eklund and Alexander Wennberg. The Tampa Bay Lightning answered with four straight goals, beginning 33 seconds later when Nikita Kucherov seized a turnover by Sam Dickinson and set up Anthony Cirelli, whose diagonal pass found Brandon Hagel for a tap-in. A failed behind-the-net pass by Yaroslav Askarov in the second period led to a loose puck that Jake Guentzel converted for his 22nd goal. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 22 saves, Hagel added an empty-net goal, and the Lightning won 4-1 as the Sharks dropped to 25-21-3.
