"Per Chris Johnston on The Chris Johnston Show, the NY Rangers are desperate to shake up the team by bringing in a true game breaker. The Rangers sorely need someone who can score and seemingly take over the game, something Artemi Panarin seems to no longer be able to do. The news shouldn't be shocking, as anyone watching this team knows they need an offensive game breaker. The question isn't about what they need, it's who is available?"
"In terms of game breakers, the only player potentially available-and only because he remains unsigned beyond this year, and nothing more-is Jason Robertson. Robertson may extend at any point, so until he's re-signed, he's "potentially available" in the loosest definitions. If the Rangers are desperate, then he'd be the only target right now. The only other player could be Quinton Byfield in LA, but he's not an offensive game breaker."
NY Rangers urgently need a true offensive game breaker who can score and take over games. Artemi Panarin appears unable to fulfill that role currently. The only plausible external target at the moment is Jason Robertson, who remains unsigned beyond this year and therefore is potentially available until he extends. Robertson could re-sign at any time, so availability is uncertain. Quinton Byfield in Los Angeles represents another name but does not project as an offensive game breaker. Los Angeles requires scoring and their needs may not align with the Rangers' trade priorities, limiting viable options.
