""The expectation is to go to Milan and win the gold medal,""
""I think anything short of that, it would be disappointing.""
Clayton Keller, Tage Thompson and Seth Jones were added to the U.S. men's Olympic hockey roster ahead of federations' 25-player submissions. Federations submitted rosters by Wednesday, with Team Canada announcing its team and Team USA planning a Friday announcement on the Today Show. GM Bill Guerin called selected players and notified potential injury replacements; teams can replace players until the Milan tournament begins on Feb. 11. Six players previously named include Auston Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk, Brady Tkachuk, Charlie McAvoy, Quinn Hughes and Jack Eichel. NHL players return to the Olympics after 12 years. Keller posted a career-high 90 points, is tied for Utah’s lead with 33 points through 40 games, and experienced the unexpected death of his father in November. Keller, Thompson and Jones join teammates who played for the Four Nations team that lost to Canada in last February’s championship game.
