San Jose lost 3-2 in Calgary after Joel Farabee scored a late shorthanded goal in the third period. Will Smith opened the scoring on a power-play tap-in from Alexander Wennberg. Morgan Frost scored for Calgary and Matvei Gridin added a one-time finish after a cross-ice pass from Frost. Adam Gaudette scored following a William Eklund play. The Sharks will play Chicago and Colorado before the NHL pauses for the Winter Olympics in Italy, which will include NHL players.
