
"Jim Morrison, who was the Toronto Maple Leafs ' second-oldest living alumnus, has passed away at the age of 94, the team announced on Tuesday morning. Morrison, a defenceman who hailed from Montreal, Quebec, spent six-and-a-half years as a Maple Leaf between 1952 and 1958, tallying 23 goals and 88 assists in that time, and finished his career with 47 goals and 191 assists in 704 games."
"He had minor stints with the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, and after a lengthy stint in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Pittsburgh Penguins. Although he never won a Stanley Cup in his career, he put together a decorated career for the Maple Leafs and also took home the Eddie Shore award for the AHL's most outstanding defenceman in 1965-66 as a member of the Quebec Aces."
Jim Morrison, a Montreal-born defenceman, spent six-and-a-half seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs between 1952 and 1958, recording 23 goals and 88 assists for the club and finishing his career with 47 goals and 191 assists in 704 games. He had brief NHL stints with Boston, Detroit, New York and Pittsburgh and earned the AHL’s Eddie Shore Award in 1965-66 with the Quebec Aces, also playing for the Baltimore Clippers. After retiring as a player in 1973 he coached in the OHL and spent 17 years as a Boston Bruins scout. His son Dave holds senior scouting and personnel roles with the Maple Leafs. No cause of death has been announced.
