San Jose Sharks unable to slow down Utah Mammoth in preseason finale
"Tyler Toffoli, Barclay Goodrow, and Will Smith all scored in the second period, with Smith's power play goal tying the game at the 13:39 mark. The Sharks, though, could not slow down the Mammoth in the third period, allowing goals to Clayton Keller and Brandon Tanev in a 6-4 loss at the Delta Center. The Sharks were outshot 11-3 in the third period, and starting goalie Yaroslav Askarov stopped 17 of 23 shots."
"I wanted to be with the team the whole time, and for whatever reason, it got taken off course, Celebrini said Saturday morning in San Jose. But now I'm back and excited to play. Celebrini, who led the Sharks with 63 points in 70 games last season, started Saturday's game on a line with Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev. Celebrini and Smith were on the same line for several games last year and lined up with Kurashev during a recent practice."
The Sharks finished the preseason with a 6-4 loss to the Utah Mammoth in Salt Lake City after allowing four goals on seven shots in the first period. Tyler Toffoli, Barclay Goodrow, and Will Smith scored in the second period, with Smith's power-play goal tying the game at 13:39. Clayton Keller and Brandon Tanev scored in the third as the Sharks were outshot 11-3 in that period. Yaroslav Askarov stopped 17 of 23 shots. Macklin Celebrini made his preseason debut, centering a line with Will Smith and Philipp Kurashev, and coach Ryan Warsofsky intended to monitor Celebrini's ice time. Philipp Kurashev signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract after five seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks.
