"After yesterday's debacle in Washington, the Rangers made five roster moves. The Blueshirts have recalled forwards Brett Berard, Anton Blidh, and Justin Dowling. This is in response to multiple injuries yesterday, as Conor Sheary was placed on LTIR and Noah Laba is probably out for a bit following a big hit from Tom Wilson. To make roster space for the three forwards, Brennan Othmann was reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack."
"To address the elephant in the room, Othmann was reassigned to Hartford due to contractual reasons. His bonus structure put the Rangers over the cap with the three recalls, so he had to be returned or else the Rangers wouldn't be cap compliant. Looks like some of you will get your wishes, as Sheary will be out a minimum of three weeks."
Five roster moves followed the Washington game. Forwards Brett Berard, Anton Blidh, and Justin Dowling were recalled to the NHL roster. Conor Sheary was placed on long-term injured reserve and Noah Laba is likely sidelined after a significant hit from Tom Wilson. Brennan Othmann was reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack to clear roster space. Othmann's contract bonus structure would have pushed the team over the salary cap with the three recalls, so he was returned to maintain cap compliance. Sheary is expected to miss a minimum of three weeks.
