"Excited," he said. "I have a lot of energy. It's the first game of the season for myself, so that's always fun. I'm just trying to bring in my game at the best (level), trying to get the win."
"Obviously, if we were going to play Mika (Zibanejad) with J.T. (Miller), there was an opportunity there for that third line center role that we thought Parse potentially could fill, and we try to provide that opportunity for him... The emergence of Noah Laba has added just another player in the mix that potentially we could go to that could fulfill that role. And we know Parse is comfortable playing the wing also, so we have some versatility there with guys that can play center and play the wing."
"I can play on the wing, in the center, so it doesn't matter," he said. "Today I'm on the wing."
Juuso Parssinen entered training camp as a candidate for the Rangers' third-line center but was a healthy scratch for the first two games after Noah Laba emerged. Vincent Trocheck sustained an upper-body injury and was listed week-to-week, opening a roster spot. Parssinen debuted against the Pittsburgh Penguins as the left wing on the third line alongside Noah Laba and Taylor Raddysh. Parssinen said he felt excited and energetic and noted he can play center or wing. Coach Mike Sullivan said the team had tested Parssinen at center in camp, praised Laba's emergence, and emphasized lineup versatility and subsequent position shifts.
