Quinn Finley dazzles at the Spengler Cup, taking on a former NY Islanders fans favorite
"With much of the hype in the hockey world surrounding the NHL returning tonight from the holiday break and the World Junior Championship, there's another major hockey event happening in Switzerland that should draw the attention of NY Islanders fans. The Spengler Cup, the world's oldest annual invitational hockey tournament, is taking place in Davos, Switzerland, with Islanders prospects Quinn Finley and Danny Nelson partaking as part of the US Collegiate Selects team."
"After falling in their first game yesterday against Team Canada, the Collegiate Selects were back at it today against the host team, HC Davos. Just last week, Leo Komarov, the former Islander, signed with Davos and was on the ice skating against Finley and Nelson today. Despite not getting on the score sheet, Komarov, who has yet to play a game with Davos, forced his way onto the team's top line."
Spengler Cup games are taking place in Davos, Switzerland with Islanders prospects Quinn Finley and Danny Nelson representing the US Collegiate Selects. The Collegiate Selects lost their opener to Team Canada but rebounded to face host HC Davos, where former Islander Leo Komarov had recently signed and skated against Finley and Nelson. Finley opened the scoring 2:31 into the game with a high-slot goal and later scored again in the final period after a back-post feed from TJ Hughes. The Collegiate Selects traded goals with Davos in the second period and took a narrow lead into the final stanza.
