"This game was a weird one from the start. It lacked any real flow, as a lot of it was spent on special teams. It took almost five minutes for the first one minute on the game clock to tick away. Starting 3-0 in the faceoff circle, the line of William Eklund, Alex Wennberg and Adam Gaudette were getting sustained offensive zone time throughout the night."
"While the Sharks were able to get a good forecheck going early, they struggled in front of their own net, leading to an early Canucks goal from another one of the noted Shark killers, Brock Boeser. The first of six Sharks power plays in the game featured a Will Smith goal after he was found wide open in front of the net by Wennberg. With Dmitry Orlov back on the primary power play instead of John Klingberg, it seems like the unit can run through Macklin Celebrini, Smith and Eklund more efficiently."
After a Thanksgiving gathering, the Sharks arrived sluggish and the Canucks sought to exploit tired legs. Vincent Iorio returned from a conditioning stint and joined an overcrowded blueline while Vincent Desharnais, Nick Leddy and Shakir Mukhamadullin were scratched. Evander Kane faced former Sharks teammate Ryan Reaves across the benches for the first time since Reaves joined the Sharks. The game lacked flow and was dominated by special teams. The Eklund-Wennberg-Gaudette line won faceoffs and earned sustained offensive zone time. Defensive breakdowns allowed Brock Boeser an early goal. Will Smith scored on the Sharks' power play and Dmitry Orlov resumed the primary power-play role.
