Carter Verhaeghe added a goal in the second after Jeff Petry intercepted a pass to Max Shabanov. Mat Barzal answered for the Islanders, but Seth Jones provided an insurance goal late in regulation and Sam Reinhart wrapped the game with an empty-netter. Daniil Tarasov made 20 saves while the Panthers limited the Islanders to three third-period shots.
