Cole Caufield scored a hat trick for the Montreal Canadiens, giving Montreal an early edge. Morgan Geekie ended a 12-game goal drought and scored twice for Boston, including a late power-play shot that slammed into the net and lodged out of view until Geekie pointed it out. David Pastrnak created Geekie's first goal with a creative play. The Bruins scored three power-play goals and rallied from a 3-2 deficit after two periods to win 4-3. The victory moved Boston within one point of Montreal in the Atlantic Division and marked the team's first comeback after a second-period deficit this season.
