Minnesota Wild sign former Washington Capitals forward Brett Leason to professional tryout
"The 26-year-old right winger signed on to a professional tryout with the Minnesota Wild on Friday, per a release from the team. Leason spent the previous three seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, logging 17 points (5g, 12a) in 62 games last year. Heading into training camp, the 6-foot-5, 218 pound winger gives the Wild more depth in the bottom six and on the penalty kill, where he logged the third-most minutes among Ducks forwards (106:01) when the team was down a man last season."
"Leason was originally drafted by the Capitals in the second round (56th overall) during the 2019 NHL Draft. He played in 36 regular-season games during the 2021-22 campaign, recording six points (3g, 3a) and 8:57 of ice time per game. The Capitals placed him and forward Axel-Jonsson Fjallby on waivers during final roster cuts ahead of the 2022-23 season, where he was claimed by the Ducks. Leason has recorded 54 points (25g, 29a) in 220 career NHL games."
