Marshall Warren impresses in Islanders' exhibition opener
"He had a great game,"
"He scored that second goal for us-jumped in the rush-and I was very impressed with him. I thought he had a really good game."
"Just a good pass by [Barzal]. He's so good at making those slick plays [and] I was able to find the back of the net,"
"When the puck is going east-to-west, you kind of have the corner open,"
Marshall Warren, 24, started in the New York Islanders' exhibition opener at UBS Arena as part of the third defense pairing with Cole McWard. Warren logged 16:45 of ice time across 18 shifts, recording three hits, five shot attempts and two shots on goal. He scored with 3:12 remaining in the second period after joining Mathew Barzal on an odd-man rush, converting a cross-ice pass from the left circle past Aleksei Kolosov. The Islanders lost 3-2 in an 11-round shootout. The performance drew notice from the organization.
