Maple Leafs to host annual outdoor practice at Westway Outdoor Rink on January 26
"We look forward to this event every year as a chance to connect with our passionate fans, and doing so in their communities makes it even more meaningful,"
"This weekend is about giving the next generation the opportunity to experience the game outdoors - where many of us first fell in love with hockey."
"The turnout is fantastic, obviously. You don't see that too often, the turnout we had today. It was a great little event,"
"It's great to do something like this, it's a fun day obviously. The guys have fun with it. The support you get here in Toronto is fantastic. It makes the event a lot more fun, a lot of people out here cheering. It's a good day for the guys. It's something different, right, from the daily grind."
The Toronto Maple Leafs will hold their 2026 outdoor practice at a community venue, marking the second consecutive year away from Nathan Phillips Square. The team has staged a special practice at a non-Ford Performance Centre facility annually since 2017, excluding COVID interruptions in 2021 and 2022. The event aims to connect with fans and introduce the next generation to outdoor hockey, according to Brad Treliving. WWE Superstars Maxxine Dupri, Otis, Akira Tozawa, Ivy Nile, The Creed Brothers and Jackie Redmond will join as guest coaches for a 3-on-3 tournament. The multi-day schedule includes open-ice skates, a Toronto Sceptres skills competition, a Leafs alumni game, and a watch party for the Jan. 25 game against the Colorado Avalanche. Craig Berube praised the turnout and the event's positive atmosphere.
