Maple Leafs invite large OHL winger to prospect showcase

Alex Pharand, a 20-year-old 6-foot-3 winger from Sudbury, Ontario, received an invite to the Toronto Maple Leafs' Prospect Showdown after attending Leafs development camp in June. Pharand was drafted 99th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2023 and became a free agent when Chicago's signing rights expired. He produced a breakout OHL season with the Sudbury Wolves, registering 17 goals and 59 points while increasing his assists from 13 to 42. The Prospect Showdown will take place September 13–14 at the Bell Centre and will include prospects from the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, and Winnipeg Jets.

Pharand only really popped off for the Sudbury Wolves last season, as he managed to score 17 goals and 59 points.
