Maple Leafs injuries: Craig Berube offers updates on Chris Tanev, Dakota Joshua, and more
"We'll see where he gets to. He's feeling good, ready to go, so we'll see how it goes this week."
"I think it's in a great spot. I spent a lot of time on it and it was a pretty valuable two weeks for me just to get the rest and the rehab and everything."
The Toronto Maple Leafs held their first practice since the Olympic break with multiple injured players unavailable. Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson remained out, forcing shuffled forward lines. Dakota Joshua returned to take fourth-line reps with Steven Lorentz and Scott Laughton after missing time with a kidney laceration suffered on December 28; he described feeling rusty and will assess readiness ahead of February 25 against Tampa Bay. Matthew Knies rejoined the third line with Nicolas Roy and Nick Robertson after resting a nagging knee injury and reported that the break provided valuable rest and rehab. Morgan Rielly returned to practice and is expected to resume his pairing with Brandon Carlo. An update was also provided regarding Chris Tanev’s season status.
