He's a very quiet, easygoing dude who's obviously really good in the net. We have to continue to do a good job in front of him, but he's done phenomenal, coming in, giving us chances to win."
"He works hard. He's a routine guy, you learn that quickly. He's got a nice way about him, he's very focused. He's done a great job coming in, and we're very happy for him tonight."
Dennis Hildeby, 24, recorded his first NHL shutout with 29 saves to preserve a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Hildeby has assumed a larger role as the Maple Leafs' de facto starting goaltender while Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz remain sidelined by injury. He owns a .936 save percentage this season and saved 2.04 goals above expected in all situations during the win, per Natural Stat Trick. Hildeby signed a three-year extension in September and is delivering on expectations. Teammates praised his composure, routine and focus, and the club has gained momentum through December.
