Maple Leafs assign goaltender Anthony Stolarz to AHL's Marlies on conditioning loan
"I had to kind of let it settle down a little bit,"
"It's not like a bruise where it just goes away. It was just something I just kind of had to let heal on its own. And, you know, it just took a little while."
"I don't have a date like targeted, but he's on this trip so he can get time with us and be around us and get practice time with us. So, that's good,"
"I think he's getting pretty close. Just needs the reps, needs the conditioning, that sort of thing."
Anthony Stolarz was assigned to the Toronto Marlies on a conditioning loan while he finishes recovery from a nerve issue that sidelined him since November 11. Stolarz said the nerve problem needed time to settle and heal on its own. He has played 13 games this season with a 6-5-1 record, a 3.51 GAA and a .884 save percentage. Stolarz posted a career year last season at 21-8-3 with a 2.14 GAA and .926 SV%. Coach Craig Berube said Stolarz is close and needs reps and conditioning, and he will likely play a couple of Marlies games before returning to NHL action. Joseph Woll and Dennis Hildeby have helped in net but Woll shows signs of fatigue.
