"I'm not going to commit to that, no,"
"I think, you know, Logan, with the year that he had, has earned an opportunity to get a good crack at being our starting goalie."
"We feel great about Chuckie as well,"
"So I think this will be a, you know, we'll use both guys. We have two world-class goalies that we feel really, really good about. And shame on us if we don't utilize both of them."
The Washington Capitals will continue the goalie rotation used at the end of the 2024-25 season. Logan Thompson will serve as the primary starter for 2025-26, while Charlie Lindgren will back him up and take spot starts unless Clay Stevenson’s situation changes. The coaching staff will not commit to alternating goalies every other game. Thompson won 31 of 43 appearances, finished fourth in Vezina voting with a 2.49 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and two shutouts, and exceeded expectations by 26 goals per MoneyPuck. Lindgren posted a 20-14-3 record and delivered crucial saves. Both goaltenders signed multi-year extensions.
