Leafs lineup news: Ekman-Larsson absent from morning skate, Woll projected to start vs. Islanders
"It's pretty remarkable. He's doing things only a handful of players have done. It's extremely impressive. He's not only a franchise player, but he's put himself in the conversation of a generational type of talent. To be 18 years old and make the contributions he's made for them, and how he's played has been remarkable. We know the challenge he presents. He played extremely well the last time we played against him."
Joseph Woll is projected to start for Toronto against the New York Islanders, continuing his role as the Maple Leafs' primary goaltender. The 27-year-old recently recorded 31 saves in a shootout loss to Buffalo and maintains a .906 save percentage with a 14-11-5 record across 31 appearances this season. Bo Groulx continues as the third-line centre after scoring twice against Minnesota, forming a line with Dakota Joshua and Nick Robertson. Toronto's lineup features John Tavares centring the first line with Maccelli and Nylander, while Max Domi centres Matthew Knies and Easton Cowan on the second line. Simon Benoit and Troy Stecher operate as the third defence pairing in Ekman-Larsson's absence.
