The club has several veteran players and talented youngsters in the depth chart ahead of them."

So, it's best for their development to head down to Bridgeport, where they will surely earn consistent playing time. It's tough to see such gritty players get cut at this point."

Several of those players showed well in camp, with Maggio and Jefferies standing out in a comeback win over the New York Rangers. Most of the assigned players were long shots to make the NHL roster given depth ahead of them. Sending them to Bridgeport will provide consistent playing time and aid development. The Islanders also placed Liam Foudy, Julien Gauthier, Cole McWard, and Travis Mitchell on waivers.
