Daniel Sprong has signed a one-year deal with CSKA Moscow to play in the KHL for the 2025-26 season. The 28-year-old forward played for three NHL teams last season, recording a total of seven points in 30 games. In the AHL, he accumulated 25 points in 19 games. Sprong expressed his enjoyment of playing in New Jersey, citing difficulties in his prior experiences. He acknowledged his fondness for coach Sheldon Keefe and noted his hope to return to New Jersey despite various challenges faced during the season.
I loved it here (in New Jersey), great group of guys, great fans. Everything before New Jersey this year was pretty difficult. Mentally a lot of ups and downs.
In the last four to five years, my numbers in the bottom six have shown I produce there. This year it didn't happen... I loved it here and I really hope I can come back.
