Evgeny Kuznetsov speaks his mind after uncertain summer
""There were other NHL teams," Kuznetsov said. "Actually, I had an opportunity [on October 1] when Shumi Babaev had a contract. But I really wanted to play in the KHL for at least another year.""
""They said no right away," Kuznetsov said to Lysenkov."
""from everywhere.""
Evgeny Kuznetsov mutually terminated his SKA St. Petersburg contract in April and signed a one-year, 10 million ruble deal with Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Kuznetsov and agent Shumi Babaev held talks with more than ten NHL teams, with reported interest from Montreal and Florida, but no NHL offers materialized and some rumored teams never expressed interest. Kuznetsov said he declined an NHL opportunity on October 1 because he wanted to play another season in the KHL and to be near his parents; Metallurg is close to his hometown of Chelyabinsk. Kuznetsov recorded 37 points in 39 regular-season games and three points in six playoff games with SKA.
