The Capitals recalled Spencer Smallman from the AHL Hershey Bears and will debut him if Strome cannot play. Charlie Lindgren will start in net after allowing seven goals a week ago and holds a 1-2 record, 3.72 goals-against average, .882 save percentage, and one shutout. The Sabres have earned points in seven of eight games and were rested after an overtime loss to Boston.
