Dahlin rejoins Sabres with fiancee getting better
""She's an absolute warrior," Dahlin said Saturday. "... She grinds every day, and she gets better every day.""
""Everything went well, so he's anxious to get back playing," Ruff said. "Any time you get your captain back, it's a jolt for the team, and I think everybody was excited to see him.""
Rasmus Dahlin returned to the Buffalo Sabres ahead of the Saturday game against the Detroit Red Wings after a leave to be with his fiancée, Carolina Matovac, in Sweden during her recovery from a heart transplant. Matovac fell ill last summer while vacationing in France, suffered sudden heart failure, and received life-saving care en route to the hospital. Matovac stayed in Sweden to recover while Dahlin began the season with Buffalo, then returned to Sweden on Nov. 7 before rejoining the team. Coach Lindy Ruff said Dahlin's return energized the team. Dahlin has nine points in 14 games and averages over 24 minutes per night.
