Chris Bourque headlines Hershey Bears Hall of Fame class of 2025
"Bourque headlines the class after having his no. 17 retired at Giant Center in 2023. The son of Hockey Hall of Famer, Ray Bourque, Chris won three Calder Cups in Hershey during his nine seasons with the team. The playmaking forward notably earned AHL Playoff MVP honors in 2010 after posting 27 points (7g, 20a) in 21 postseason games. Bourque appeared in the Calder Cup Finals five different times with Hershey."
"Giroux, one of the most elite goal-scorers in Hershey Bears history, scored a club record 60 goals during the 2008-09 season, which included an AHL record 15-game goal-scoring streak. The previous record holder was Hockey Hall of Famer, Brett Hull, who scored in 14 straight. Giroux followed up that effort with 103 points (50g, 53a) in 69 games the next season. The Bears won championships both seasons."
Five individuals were selected for the Hershey Bears Hall of Fame class of 2025: Chris Bourque, Alexandre Giroux, Boyd Kane, Mike McHugh, and William W. "Tiny" Parry. Bourque won three Calder Cups with Hershey across nine seasons, had his No. 17 retired in 2023, earned AHL Playoff MVP honors in 2010 with 27 postseason points, and finished with 746 AHL points, 586 of which came with the Bears. Giroux scored a club-record 60 goals in 2008-09, set an AHL-record 15-game goal streak, and posted 103 points the following season. Kane was a member of the back-to-back 2009 and 2010 Calder Cup teams. McHugh served as team captain in the late 1990s. Parry worked as a writer and sports editor for the Lebanon Daily News. Bourque and Giroux were first-ballot Hall of Fame selections in their first year of eligibility. The induction will take place December 6 before the Hershey Bears' game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Giant Center.
