"The Caps went into Alberta and took the win over Calgary before heading immediately to Edmonton for a Saturday night throwdown against Connor McDavid and some other guys who wear the same jersey as him. While it ultimately goes into the books as a loss for the Caps, that doesn't take away the fact that they played a mostly decent - albeit fairly loosey-goosey - game in the second of back-to-back outings, and got three points on the weekend."
"Plus: The Caps matched the Oilers punch for punch for most of the night, which required them to score more than three goals - something they hadn't done since their 5-1 win over Chicago back on January 9. Lots of contributions from throughout the lineup. Minus: Five penalties is too many penalties to take against the best power play in the league, and while they did a great job to kill off the first four, that last one bit them."
Caps defeated Calgary in Alberta before immediately traveling to Edmonton for a Saturday night game against Connor McDavid and the Oilers. The team produced a mostly decent, occasionally loose performance in the second game of a back-to-back and earned three points on the weekend. The Capitals matched Edmonton punch for punch and needed more than three goals to compete, receiving contributions throughout the lineup. Penalty trouble proved costly: five penalties allowed the league's best power play opportunities, and although the Caps killed the first four, the final power play resulted in the decisive goal. Connor McMichael scored two points; Charlie Lindgren posted a strong performance despite the goals allowed.
