""So Jim, when you were let go...""
""I got fired!""
""Call it what it is!""
""Just everything that's transpired in less than a year or just over a year.. It's pretty remarkable, but that's the day and age of the NHL.""
Jim Montgomery returned to the Garden for the first time since being fired by the Bruins a little over a year ago. He acknowledged the firing directly and showed no bitterness. Montgomery was hired by the St. Louis Blues less than a week after leaving Boston and led the team to a playoff appearance that ended in a Game 7 double-overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The Blues have struggled this season and Montgomery briefly clashed with goaltender Jordan Binnington but has since reconciled. The Bruins experienced major roster sell-offs following continued struggles after his departure.
