Bruins notebook: Casey Mittelstadt looking to bounce back
""I want to see a response," said Sturm after the Bruins' morning skate. "He should be well-rested and ready to go. He's a very skilled guy, so I want him to use his skill, too, not just in offensive zone but making plays to use Pavel Zacha in the middle and maybe use Arvy. And also on the power play. That's what I'm hoping to get out of him.""
""Obviously as a player, you're not happy about it but it's not in your control," said Mittelstadt. "There's not a reason to go and dwell and pout. I'll look in the mirror. It's what you make it. For me, I'll use it as motivation and come back, work harder the next day and keep moving forward. I don't think there's a point to sit there and pout and feel sorry for myself. It's only going to hurt me.""
Casey Mittelstadt was a healthy scratch in the Utah game and returned to the lineup as left wing on the second line with Pavel Zacha at center and Viktor Arvidsson on the right. The coaching staff expects him to respond by using his skill to create plays, assist Zacha and Arvidsson, and contribute on the power play. Mittelstadt acknowledged the scratch, called it motivating, pledged to work harder, and declined to dwell on it. A recent bad turnover on the power play led to a shorthanded goal. Defensive play overall is a wider team emphasis, though Mittelstadt's defensive work has been strong.
