Bill Zito, the general manager of the Florida Panthers, selected Josh Davies in the sixth round (186th overall) of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The Panthers acquired this pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets. Davies played 64 games for the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL, recording 36 points. At the 2022 IIHF U18 World Junior Championship, he appeared in three games for Canada. Although unranked before the draft, Davies is praised for his skating, offensive production, and responsible two-way play, possessing speed and agility suited for making quick decisions and plays on ice.
