What will Dolphins' pass rush look like with Phillips traded, Robinson likely out?
""Whether it's player trades, player injury, the expectation doesn't change for what we're trying to get done," Weaver said Thursday. "So I expect (Cameron) Goode, (Quinton) Bell, Matt Judon, obviously Bradley Chubb, all those guys, go out there and play their absolute best. Just knowing the character of that room and those guys, I know that's exactly what we're going to get.""
"The natural next man up to start opposite Chubb would be veteran, four-time Pro Bowl edge defender Matthew Judon, who has been held without a sack and limited in his snap counts coming off the bench behind Phillips, Chubb and Robinson. But defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver may throw an array of rotational players on the edge out onto the field at Hard Rock Stadium."
Jaelan Phillips was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, removing a regular starting edge rusher from Miami's lineup. Phillips and Bradley Chubb had started all nine games together this season. The trade opens playing time for 2024 first-round pick Chop Robinson, but Robinson is in concussion protocol and unlikely to play in the upcoming game. Veteran Matthew Judon is the likely immediate starter opposite Chubb after limited snaps and no sacks this season. Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver expects a rotation that could include Cameron Goode and Quinton Bell. Bell is on the practice squad and must be elevated to play. Willie Gay could receive edge snaps as a situational option.
