Vikes' McCarthy practices; status for Week 7 TBD
""I don't necessarily want to put a percentage on where I think he's at health-wise," O'Connell said of McCarthy."
""I think this week we'll be massive for our whole team, but just to see J.J. back out there getting reps and working through the process of building that foundation back up -- we got off to a really good start last week.""
J.J. McCarthy practiced Monday for the first time since suffering a high right ankle sprain, and coach Kevin O'Connell has not confirmed whether McCarthy will resume the starting job Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Backup Carson Wentz has started three consecutive games, guiding the Vikings to a 2-1 record while managing a sore left shoulder that has improved. McCarthy used the bye to work with receivers and rebuild fundamentals after a layoff. McCarthy's early-season statistics include a 20.3 QBR, 58.1% completion rate for 301 yards, nine sacks, three touchdowns and four turnovers. McCarthy missed a Sept. 11 practice for the birth of his son, Rome.
