The Patriots entered their preseason finale against the Giants with multiple roster battles across wide receiver, offensive line and kicker. Rookie kicker Andres Borregales, a sixth-round pick, was assumed to have the job after strong practice showings and being viewed as the best of the class. Parker Romo gained momentum over recent weeks and delivered a stronger preseason showing. Borregales struggled in the final preseason game, making his roster spot uncertain and increasing the likelihood he lands on the practice squad. Coach Mike Vrabel acknowledged both kickers and indicated the competition remained under evaluation.
The Patriots went into their preseason finale game against the Giants with several roster battles yet to be settled. From the wide receiver room and the offensive line to kicker, there were plenty of players worthy of taking an extra close look at ahead of Tuesday's upcoming roster cut deadline. Parker Romo has taken the spotlight over the last few weeks, and Borregales' performance against the Giants on Thursday night might mean Romo has locked up the position for the upcoming season.
