Travis Hunter's 2025 NFL Draft warning for teams that want to change him
Briefly

Travis Hunter, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and presumed top-three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has made it clear that he intends to continue excelling as a two-way player. Despite the challenges of transitioning to the NFL from college, Hunter believes he can dominate on both offense and defense. His impressive stats from the last season underscore his dual-threat capability, igniting discussions about his potential role in the league, including concerns over specialization voiced by former NFL players like Steve Smith.
As Hunter gets older, though, former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith recently said he will need to pick one position while attending his pro day. "That's why he most likely will have to play one position."
Hunter played 713 offensive snaps and 748 defensive snaps in 2024. He accumulated 1,258 receiving yards on offense to go along with 15 touchdowns.
Hunter is confident the jump to the NFL should not stop him from dominating on both offense and defense. "I just feel very confident in myself."
"It's never playing football again," Hunter told CBS Sports when asked what would happen if an NFL team asked him to play only one way.
