Penn State shifted attention after BYU coach Kalani Sitake chose to remain with the Cougars and agreed to a long-term extension. The school engaged at least three other candidates during a search that has extended more than 50 days since James Franklin was fired on Oct. 12. Campbell is the winningest coach in Iowa State history with eight winning seasons, two Big 12 championship game appearances, a Fiesta Bowl victory in 2020, 72 career wins and an 8-4 record this season.
