Sources: Dolphins hiring Packers DC Jeff Hafley as new coach
"The Miami Dolphins are hiring Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to become their next head coach, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday. Hafley, 46, interviewed with the Dolphins for a second time on Tuesday. He joins new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, who the Dolphins hired to replace longtime GM Chris Grier this month. Sullivan and Hafley overlapped for the past two seasons together in Green Bay."
"Miami is headed toward a reset after firing Grier during the season and head coach Mike McDaniel days after the season ended. In an interview with the team's in-house media, Sullivan mentioned multiple players as building blocks moving forward, including Jaylen Waddle, Patrick Paul, Aaron Brewer and De'Von Achane. He did not mention quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was benched late in the 2025 season and whose future with the team is currently uncle"
Jeff Hafley, 46, will be the Miami Dolphins' next head coach after interviewing twice and reconnecting with new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan. Hafley spent two seasons as the Green Bay Packers' defensive coordinator, with the Packers ranking ninth in yards allowed per game, sixth in yards per play and eighth in points allowed per game. Hafley was previously head coach at Boston College (22-26 in four seasons) and served as an NFL defensive backs coach for Tampa Bay, Cleveland and San Francisco from 2012 to 2018. His coaching career began in 2001 and included stops at Albany, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Ohio State. Miami has fired GM Chris Grier and coach Mike McDaniel and is identifying young players as building blocks, while the quarterback situation remains unresolved.
