Sources: Broncos' Bo Nix sidelined 12 weeks after ankle surgery
"Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, who is out for Sunday's AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots, is expected to be sidelined 12 weeks after undergoing surgery last week on his broken right ankle, sources told ESPN. The recovery, not the surgery, is not thought to be the most challenging part of this injury. Nix is not supposed to put any weight on his ankle for at least four weeks, and he will miss 12 weeks altogether before he can return to activity,"
"Nix is expected to be largely recovered in time to be able to participate in the Broncos' offseason program, but doctors are trying to be very intentional with what Denver's quarterback can and can't do over the next 12 weeks. Nix suffered the injury late in overtime of Denver's victory over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round. Broncos coach Sean Payton delivered the news in the aftermath of the game and immediately named Jarrett Stidham as the Broncos' starting quarterback in the AFC Championship"
Bo Nix underwent surgery on a broken right ankle and is expected to be sidelined about 12 weeks. He cannot put weight on the ankle for at least four weeks and will miss roughly three months before returning to activity. Nix will not play in the AFC Championship and has no realistic chance to return for the Super Bowl. He is expected to be largely recovered for the Broncos' offseason program, with medical staff managing activity restrictions. Jarrett Stidham has been named the Broncos' starting quarterback for the AFC Championship.
