Rob Gronkowski first retired in 2019 with the New England Patriots and retired again in 2022 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has not played in the NFL since 2022. Susan Hurley publicly proposed that Gronkowski sign a ceremonial one-day contract to retire as a Patriot during a ribbon-cutting for the Gronk Playground on the Charles River Esplanade in Boston. Patriots owner Robert Kraft apparently gave a thumbs up to the idea. Gronkowski told reporters that the team will make it happen in the future, though no date has been set. The Patriots have not issued an official announcement.
Can we just make it official and sign [Gronkowski] for a day so he can retire as a Patriot?
[Kraft] gave her a thumbs up, so we're going to make it happen in the future and it's gonna be a special moment,
Come back for a day, a weekend, whatever it is. So we'll make it happen and it will be a really, really cool moment. It's gonna happen, we just don't know when.
Gronk will sign a one day contract and retire a New England Patriot,
