Harrison Mevis grew up in northern Indiana and practiced kicking in snowy, windy conditions. Mevis joined the Rams in November to replace Joshua Karty and made 12 of 13 field-goal attempts plus all 39 extra points. Mevis contributed two field goals and four extra points in the wild-card win over Carolina. The game in Chicago could feature teens temperatures and subzero wind-chill, which may harden the ball and reduce distance. Mevis will assess wind and target direction before warmups and at halftime. A blocked punt against Carolina resulted from a blown assignment, which the staff called correctable. Punting, kicking and kickoffs will emphasize placement, hang time and ground play.
