Poor week of practice led to Panthers' flop against Saints
"You can't get days back. If you have a bad day on Thursday, tough day on Friday, or whatever, you can always look forward but you can't get that day back. So that preparation, a lack thereof, it's going to add up. Unfortunately, it just cultivated into what we saw."
"I don't like to lose."
Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu noticed repeated plays, missed small details, and lack of focus during practice before the game. Coach Dave Canales spoke to the team multiple times about preparation. The Carolina Panthers lost 17-7 at home to the New Orleans Saints, who entered the game with one win in nine contests. Poor preparation translated into offensive dysfunction, including Bryce Young's interception and a lost fumble. Young threw for 126 yards and saw his four-game win streak as the starter end. The loss damages Carolina's playoff chances, especially as an NFC South home defeat to a struggling opponent.
