"This is literally the greatest thing that has happened to me in my whole life, probably. It's just awesome. The guys are awesome, everybody's been super welcoming. I love the environment here. I love the vibe here."
"Explosive player, able to get to the quarterback, violent in the run game, can create a lot of disruption,"
"Just a lot of how we like to play that position. [Defensive coordinator] Vic [Fangio] having familiarity with him is obviously big. It takes away some of that learning curve of getting ready to go."
"just pin our ears back and have that aggressive rushing mindset."
Jaelan Phillips was acquired from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and immediately practiced with the Philadelphia Eagles. Phillips expressed strong excitement about joining the team and praised the welcoming environment. He reunites with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who coached him in Miami, and Fangio's scheme allows aggressive pass-rushing opportunities. Phillips had been enjoying a breakout in 2023 before tearing his Achilles and owns 26 career sacks over four-plus seasons. The Eagles expect Phillips to bolster an edge rotation that will soon include Nolan Smith returning and Brandon Graham back from a short retirement, while the team's pass rush ranks tied for 25th with 16 sacks.
