Philip Rivers, 44, Has Returned to the NFL. Meet His 10 Kids ... and Grandkid
"Philip Rivers is a potential Pro Football Hall of Famer who isn't quite done on the gridiron. The Indianapolis Colts signed the quarterback to their practice squad on Dec. 9. The rub? Rivers, who turned 44 on Dec. 8, hasn't played in the NFL since he was with the team during the 2020 season, when he started all 16 games and was playing when they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs in January 2021."
"Widely considered one of the best quarterbacks never to play in the Super Bowl, the durable Rivers threw for more than 63,000 yards in his decorated career, making the Pro Bowl eight times after the Chargers traded for him following his selection by the New York Giants in the 2004 NFL Draft. He would be eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2026, but if he is placed on the active roster by the Colts, his eligibility will be bumped back five years, according to NFL.com."
""The biggest thing I've learned as a dad is that kids want our time, more than anything," he told Uproxx in 2016, when he had eight kids. "Sometimes the time is limited, and that's just what it is. We have days, long weekends, but even if it's just 10 minutes one day, if you really give them that 10 minutes, that's the most valuable thing we can give them.""
Philip Rivers, age 44, signed with the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad on Dec. 9 after not playing in the NFL since the 2020 season. Rivers started all 16 games in 2020 and was on the field during the playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills in January 2021. Rivers spent his career with the Chargers from 2004 to 2019, accumulated over 63,000 passing yards, and earned eight Pro Bowl selections. Rivers is widely regarded as one of the best quarterbacks never to play in a Super Bowl. Active-roster placement would delay his Hall of Fame eligibility by five years. Rivers and his wife Tiffany have ten children and one grandchild.
