Patriots learn date, time of regular-season finale vs. Dolphins
"If New England wants to close out the regular season with the No. 1 seed - securing home-field advantage and earning a first-round bye as a result - they're going to have both beat the Dolphins on Sunday ... and rely on the Chargers to beat the Denver Broncos on Sunday as well. The Patriots and Broncos both hold identical 13-3 records with one game to go. But the Broncos hold the tiebreaker over the Patriots thanks to their better record against common opponents."
"The NFL announced its Week 18 slate of games late Sunday night, with New England set to close out the regular season on Sunday, Jan. 4 against the Dolphins at Gillette Stadium. Kick-off is set for 4:25 p.m., with the game broadcast on FOX. With the No. 1 seed set to be determined by both the Patriots-Dolphins and Broncos-Chargers games, the NFL scheduled both games for Sunday with identical 4:25 p.m. start times."
New England will close the 2025 regular season at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 4 against the Dolphins with a 4:25 p.m. kickoff on FOX. New England clinched the AFC East after Buffalo's loss to the Eagles but still competes for the AFC No. 1 seed. New England and Denver each hold 13-3 records, and Denver holds the tiebreaker due to a better record against common opponents, including beating Las Vegas twice while New England lost in Week 1. The Patriots will secure the top seed only by beating Miami and having the Chargers defeat Denver. A Patriots loss combined with a Jaguars win over Tennessee could drop New England to the No. 3 seed.
