Sherman Oaks Notre Dame advanced with a 44-28 victory over Laguna Beach in the Southern Section Division 3 playoff opener. Noel Washington rushed for 83 yards on 11 carries and scored three touchdowns of 35, two and 32 yards. Laguna Beach quarterback Jack Hurst completed 32 of 51 passes for 417 yards and four touchdowns. Notre Dame quarterback Wyatt Brown passed for 232 yards and one touchdown, rushed for 61 yards and delivered a critical third-and-17 completion to Emmanuel Pullins that set up a late field goal. DeShaun Foster worked with Notre Dame's running backs this week to increase physicality.
