Miami Dolphins claim ex-Indianapolis Colts CB off waivers
Briefly

The Miami Dolphins claimed cornerback Julius "JuJu" Brents off the waiver wire. Brents is 6-foot-3 and 198 pounds and appeared in 11 games this season, starting nine, with 50 tackles, one interception, six passes defended, one forced fumble and one recovered fumble. His previous season ended on Sept. 10 when he was placed on injured reserve due to a knee injury. Brents played 52 special teams snaps in 2024 and five the prior season. He will compete for playing time behind projected starters Storm Duck, Jack Jones and nickel Jason Marshall Jr., alongside additions Rasul Douglas and Isaiah Johnson. Cornerback Cam Smith is on the non-football injury/illness list and Ethan Bonner is sidelined with a hamstring issue. The team planned to be aggressive with waiver claims to add roster players and intended to add cornerback Cornell Armstrong to the 16-player practice squad.

"We feel good about that group," he said. "They've competed, they've done well all spring and summer battling. A lot of the stuff that we're working on are not things that they're going to be doing in regular season games because you're not game planning, showing things to teams, so it was good to see them out competing and working and we've been very happy with them."
