Brian Kelly issued a statement after being dismissed as LSU head coach in the fourth season of a 10-year, $100 million contract. He compiled a 34-14 record over three-plus seasons and helped LSU reach the 2022 SEC title game but missed the College Football Playoff in his first three seasons. Kelly praised players including Heisman winner Jayden Daniels and noted 39 SEC Academic Honor Roll players in 2024. Associate head coach Frank Wilson was named interim coach. The firing included removal of athletic director Scott Woodward and drew criticism from Gov. Jeff Landry, who raised buyout concerns of about $54 million.
