Kayshon Boutte reflects on his forgotten history as an elite prospect

He was a consensus top-40 recruit and some even had him in the top-20. One such scouting report, which projected him as an early-round pick, listed his player comparison as none other than current Patriots teammate Stefon Diggs, who is a four-time Pro Bowler."

""I think people fail to realize that at one point in time I was [projected as] as first-round pick, just before my surgery," Boutte said. "So, I think a lot of people doubt that I can do what I do but I always knew what I can do. To some people, it is a surprise, but to me it's just always what I used to do.""

Kayshon Boutte entered college as a highly ranked recruit and was once considered a potential first-round NFL pick with a player comparison to Stefon Diggs. He became the fastest receiver in LSU history to reach 100 career catches. An ankle injury during his sophomore year required two surgeries and limited him to six games that season. He returned as a junior and played all 11 games but did not match his freshman production. Boutte was selected by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2023 draft and produced a strong season-opening performance and preseason, rising on the depth chart.
